Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Cunha CONFIRMED, Barca SIGNING, Wirtz ‘won’t take too long’

Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has delivered the updates from the market, including the latest on Lamine Yamal, Matheus Cunha, Florian Wirtz and more.
Lamine signs extension, one more to come at Barca
Romano has provided details of Lamine Yamal’s new Barcelona deal while announcing the next player in line for an extension at Camp Nou.
“Lamine Yamal has signed a new deal with Barcelona until 2031. It’s all completed and signed. There will be a special bonus in case Lamine Yamal wins the Ballon d’Or as a Barcelona player. There will be an increase in salary every single season and there will be a release clause for €1 billion,” Romano told his YouTube channel.
“Another player expected to stay at Barcelona is Wojciech Szczesny. As per reports in Poland today, he’s expected to sign a new deal with Barcelona. Everything’s almost been agreed since March. Now Barcelona are working to finalise everything in terms of the final green light from the goalkeeper.
“The message coming from Szczesny and his agents is positive for Barca. The conversation is advancing and then be the goalkeeper in competition with Marc-Andre ter Stegen.”
Cunha to Man Utd: No problems with transfer
After some worries that Cunha’s move to Man Utd might be on shaky ground, Romano has stepped in to allay fears of fans.
“Matheus Cunha has been a Manchester United player since Sunday night. The verbal agreement between all parties involved, Cunha, his agent, Man Utd and Wolverhampton was made. Now the formal steps need to be made: contact Wolves, complete the agreement, but everything was already in place to make the transfer happen,” he said.
“Man Utd will complete all the instalments in two years. They’ll pay £62.5 million and give him a five-year contract with a one-year option. Cunha is expected to travel this week and complete his signing.
“He’ll be the first signing for Ruben Amorim.”

Florian Wirtz to Liverpool won’t take too long
Liverpool are closing in on three sensational summer deals, with Romano outlining where talks currently are with Bayer Leverkusen over Florian Wirtz.
He explained: “The conversations with Florian Wirtz to Liverpool are continuing.
“Let’s be very clear: Jeremie Frimpong done, Milos Kerzez is a deal that can really happen. With Wirtz, a deal with the player is nearly done and conversations are ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen after a first proposal. They’re discussing bonuses and other details.
“They’re working hard to get the Florian Wirtz deal done and it won’t take too long. That’s the message coming from those close to the deal.”
Romano adds Cherki to City shortlist
Romano has finally confirmed FootballTransfers' exclusive that Lyon attacker Rayan Cherki is an option for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.
FootballTransfers first confirmed City’s interest at the beginning of April amid concerns that Wirtz would head elsewhere, and now Romano is reporting the same information.

“For Manchester City we also have to consider Rayan Cherki. Man City will not sign Florian Wirtz, that’s been their idea for one week ago. So they’re assessing different options,” he said.
“At No.8, Tijjani Reijnders is the player they want. At No.10, Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, since April, has been on the list of targets, but we also have Cherki, a player appreciated by Man City. He’s an option.
“There are more clubs interested. The player is open to a move to England. He’s a strong possibility, with the player leaving Lyon in the summer transfer window.
“City are expected to sign a goalkeeper – Diogo Costa of Porto is an option. They’re also expected to sign a right-back – Tino Livramento of Newcastle United is the dream but with the Magpies being in the Champions League it won’t be an easy one. On the left, a player appreciated is Rayan Ait Nouri at Wolves. Let’s see what happens. Man City will be very busy.”
What’s next for Jadon Sancho?
Jadon Sancho’s future remains unclear, with neither Manchester United nor loan club Chelsea apparently keen on retaining him for next season.
“Chelsea vs Real Betis could be the final match for Jadon Sancho. Keep an eye on the situation of Sancho. At the moment, he’s got no sort of guarantee from Chelsea, who have not told him anything about staying or leaving the club,” Romano said.
“Enzo Maresca confirmed in public that no decision has been made. Remember, Chelsea can keep the player for a total package of £25 million but they can also send him back for £5m to Manchester United. This possibility is still live.
“After the final, Chelsea will inform the player of their decision but Sancho returning to Man Utd is a real possibility.”
