Man City secure AGREEMENT for ‘dream’ signing as Wirtz bomb drops

Manchester City are closing in on their first summer signing as a major update in the chase for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz has broken.
Tijjani Reijnders is closing in on a move to the Etihad Stadium having reached a provisional accord over a contract, according to Sky Sport Switzerland.
The Netherlands international midfielder sees the possibility of playing under Pep Guardiola as a “dream come true” and a €50 million deal with AC Milan looks likely to be completed.
Man City have beaten Real Madrid to the 26-year-old, who made it clear to his agent that he preferred the possibility of moving to the Etihad. A draft contract has been agreed with the Premier League side, who see the player as the perfect partner to Rodri in the heart of the midfield.
Not everything is settled for Reijnders to move to Man City. Talks will have to be held between the clubs over a transfer fee for the former AZ player.
City want to hurry through a deal and have already sounded out AC Milan’s asking price via the player’s agents. This is thought to be around the €65m mark.

Guardiola’s side will return with a proposal worth €50m plus bonuses, which will be linked to both the personal performance of Reijnders, who has an Estimated Transfer Value of €55.6m, and that of the club as a whole.
While the source believes that this figure will be enough to force a deal through, previous reports indicated that Milan would not accept an offer below €71m. This would make Reijnders the biggest sale in the history of the Rossoneri.
Regardless, the Italians stand to make a huge profit on the international star, who is under contract until 2030. He was signed in 2023 for just €20.5m.
Man City make Wirtz ‘Plan B’
Manchester City are also seeking to sign a No.10 to replace the outgoing Kevin De Bruyne and have earmarked Florian Wirtz for that role.
The Bayer Leverkusen player appears difficult to land due to competing interest from Liverpool and, most notably, Bayern Munich.
With this in mind, City are now looking at signing Dani Olmo from Barcelona.
Guardiola could take advantage of Barcelona’s financial problems and have “already prepared the groundwork” for a €60 million deal.
City are still prioritising Wirtz and will only return for Olmo if that deal falls through.
