Chelsea flop Joao Felix is in talks to link up with Arsenal midfielder Jorginho at Flamengo this summer.

The Portuguese attacker's fall from grace is continuing apace. Once Europe's biggest wonderkid, Felix has long since become a player notorious for wasting his potential.

Last summer, Felix finally left Atletico Madrid and joined his former loan club Chelsea permanently in a seemingly pointless deal. The Blues did not need the 25-year-old, and after struggling for minutes, he was shipped out on loan in January.

He joined AC Milan but has failed to build on a promising debut. In fact, Felix has repeatedly been slammed by the Italian press as a 'disastrous' signing for the Rossoneri, who will not make his loan permanent this summer.

Felix will therefore have to return to Chelsea, who also seemingly don't want to keep him long-term. It is likely that he will leave Stamford Bridge again, but securing a permanent exit could prove challenging as Chelsea want to recoup a decent chunk of their €52 million outlay.

Felix in talks with Flamengo

According to various sources, including Brazilian media, Ben Jacobs and Rudy Galetti, Flamengo have held exploratory talks to sign Felix this summer.

These initial discussions were with the player's camp, and there have so far been no negotiations with Chelsea. However, Flamengo are concretely interested in Felix as they want to strengthen their side for the Club World Cup, where they will actually face Chelsea in Group D.

Flamengo have already managed to wrap up the signing of veteran midfielder Jorginho from Arsenal. The Italian has signed a three-year deal with the Rio de Janeiro outfit, although the transfer hasn't been officially announced yet.

It is unclear whether Felix is open to the move, but Chelsea would be willing to sanction an initial loan on suitable terms. Former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid player Filipe Luis, who left Atleti mere days before Felix signed in 2019, is the head coach of Flamengo and reportedly pushing for the signing of the Portugal international.
