Chelsea risk losing wonderkid after ONE season

Alex Matos has burst into the spotlight of several top clubs in Europe in recent months.

The attacking midfielder, loaned by Chelsea to Huddersfield Town, has made such a good impression in the second tier after the winter break that PSV have spotted the 19-year-old Englishman. However, the people of Eindhoven are not the only ones interested.

Matos is a player who is highly regarded at the moment. The attacking midfielder moved from Norwich City to Chelsea on a free transfer last summer and has already made his debut in the Premier League for the Londoners. In order to get more time to play, Matos left for Huddersfield Town in the January transfer window, and he has already made 12 appearances.

According to reports, Everton and Fulham are currently the most concrete options for the talent, who is in principle still under contract in west London until 2026. However, there are also foreign suitors, such as PSV, who are keeping tabs on him.

Matos a wanted man

Lille OSC and Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be angling for the services of Matos. The three foreign clubs are said to want to keep a close eye on Matos in the coming weeks and consider making an offer next summer.

The only question is whether Chelsea will be open to selling the youth international after just one season at the club. Though given that the Blues signed him for nothing, he could be a candidate to be sold and raise funds to alleviate the club's Financial Fair Play concerns.

However, the Londoners have few positive memories of prospects who left too soon. Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Mohamed Salah, among others, were sold too early by Chelsea in the past and later turned out to be able to reach the top.

It is still unclear how much Matos would cost in the event of a sale. According to data from FootballTransfers, the Blues youngster has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €1.2 million, but Chelsea would surely ask for a fair bit more to help ease their economic concerns.
