Serhou Guirassy is having the season of his life.
The 27-year-old currently leads the European Golden Shoe and Bundesliga Golden Boot race after scoring an utterly absurd 13 goals in his first seven Bundesliga games for VfB Stuttgart this season, beating Harry Kane to top spot.
A few years ago, the Guinean sharpshooter rejected a move to Chelsea in order to get playing time. If he keeps up his current form, clubs of the Blues' stature will come calling once again, but who is Serhou Guirassy and how good is he really?

What position does Guirassy play in?
Guirassy is a number nine, a central striker who can seemingly do it all, from getting in behind the defence to holding up the ball.
How good is Guirassy?
Looking at Guirassy's statistics this season, it is easy to think that the Guinean is a single-minded goalscoring machine of the Erling Haaland type. While true that the 27-year-old shares that insatiable drive towards goal that makes Haaland so unstoppable, Guirassy is arguably a more technically sound and skilled player than the Norwegian.
In addition to his 13 goals in seven games in the league, Guirassy also has an assist to his name, but in truth, that number should be much higher had it not been for poor finishing from his teammates. In a recent game against promoted Darmstadt alone, Guirassy could have had a hattrick of goals and assists, but he ultimately finished the match with two goals and an assist.
The striker links up well with his teammates and has the speed to get in behind defences on the counter but is also enough of a physical presence to hold up the ball. Stuttgart have been the surprise package of this nascent Bundesliga season and Guirassy has been the biggest reason behind their success, though he already showed glimpses of his scoring instinct last term, netting 11 goals in 22 outings as Stuttgart barely avoided relegation.

What clubs are interested in Guirassy?
In 2020, Guirassy rejected the chance to join Chelsea, and in the bygone summer, he again opted to stay rather than make a big move. Stuttgart had made his loan from Stade Rennais permanent but they feared for pretty much the entire window that someone would snap him up as he had a release clause of €15m-20m that expired on August 20.
According to Sky Germany, "Guirassy made the conscious decision to remain at Stuttgart and reject Premier League offers." He will be one of Europe's hottest commodities in the winter, but it is said that he has no intention to leave his club in January, though he does have a new €20m release clause that becomes active in 2024.
