De Gea left Man Utd after his contract ran down. He and the club were in talks over fresh terms but ultimately could not come to an agreement so he left the club as a free agent over the summer.

De Gea was seen in attendance for Man Utd Women's Champions League debut at Leigh Sports Village where Marc Skinner's side faced Paris Saint Germain.

His public appearance in the city coincided with calls for Man Utd to re-sign him following the torrid start to Red Devils life for Andre Onana, who was bought in as his replacement. The former Inter man has been feeling the brunt of criticism for his errors in a few of Man Utd’s games this season, particularly in the Champions League, with some believing that the club’s new keeper has not lived up to De Gea’s shot-stopping ability.

De Gea uploaded an Instagram story with his feet crossed outside a tennis court, tagging his location as Manchester. It is thought that had returned to the city to clear out his house in Hale, just outside the city of Cheshire.
