Chelsea and Arsenal are set to challenge Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord, according to reports.

BVB reportedly sent in scouts to attend Ajax vs. Feyenoord’s controversial game last Sunday that was abandoned just before the one-hour mark following fervent protests from Ajax fans, as per GGFN.

In that game, Gimenez had already scored two goals, while he completed a hat trick when the game resumed on Wednesday.

His goal-scoring prowess has caught the attention of some elite Premier League sides, too, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham all in for the 22-year-old.

Last term, Gimenez netted 23 goals and provided three assists, while this campaign he has scored eleven goals in just six games.

Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic already has a wealth of attacking options, though Liverpool are keen on Donyell Malen and so he may be weighing up his options in case his attacker departs.

Chelsea remain on the lookout for another striker, having languished in the goal-scoring department this season.

There have been links to Brentford forward Ivan Toney but the England international poses an element of risk given he would have missed out on nine months of international football by the time January rolls around.

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Gimenez, too, following the player’s electric form in the Netherlands.

The Times reports that Arsenal have Gimenz on their radar but that they must offload players in order to meet Financial Fair Play regulations if they are to sign him.

It is thought that Feyenoord were demanding a €50 million for their star player over the summer, but that could rise given his form this season.

The 22-year-old joined the Dutch club from Cruz Azul last year and is thoroughly enjoying his time there.
