Piers Morgan has told Arsenal to 'break the bank' to sign €150m Napoli striker sensation Victor Osimhen.

The Gunners have already spent big during this summer window - agreeing a £105m fee to grab midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham and spending £65m to take striker Kai Havertz from Chelsea.

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is expected to be the next Emirates arrival for a fee of between £45m and £50m, but controversial broadcaster and Gunners superfan Morgan says the splurge should not stop there.

He feels Arsenal need a bona fide number one striker, a step up on the likes of Gabriel Jesus. His choice, emphatically, would be Napoli's Nigerian sensation Osimhen.

The 24-year-old was simply brilliant in 2022-23, firing 26 goals in just 32 Serie games to fire Napoli to their first Scudetto since the days of Diego Maradona back in 1990.

Osimhen transfer fee, and interested clubs

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is trying to get Osimhen to extend his contract, but admits a sale may happen. Only he says if the buying club agrees to pay up €150m.

Even that eye-watering sum doesn't scare Morgan, who said on his Twitter feed: "It’s brilliant that Arsenal seem to have won the race to sign Declan Rice who will be a monstrously good addition to the team. But if we want to win big trophies, we also need a world-class striker who will score 25+ goals a season. I’d break the bank for Victor Osimhen #afc".

When pressed about how Arsenal would afford Osimhen, having already shelled out the best part of £200m this summer, Morgan believes it is not an issue. He says they have players to sell who will recoup a handsome percentage.

Morgan's message to Arsenal might have Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea sitting up with a little concern - they have all been linked with Osimhen in recent weeks.

Reports in Italy suggest that Premier League trio - along with Bayern Munich and PSG - are the early front runners.
