Revealed: Worst paid players at Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool

One of the biggest attractions about being a professional footballer is, of course, the money.

Soccer players today are earning astronomical salaries, not to mention picking up additional income from sponsorship deals and other endorsements.

However, not every footballer – even in the richest league in the world – are as handsomely paid as one would expect.

The Sun revealed who the lowest-paid members of each Premier League squad is and it made for some interesting reading.

Manchester United’s lowest-paid player is 17-year-old forward Shola Shoretire, who is on £8,000 a week, or €9,500. That equates to £416,000 (€49,4000) a year.

In comparison, Man Utd’s highest earner Cristiano Ronaldo takes home £26.5m (€30m) a year.

Chelsea’s lowest earner, according to The Sun, is third-choice goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli. He makes a still impressive £35,000 (€42,000) a week or £1.8m (€2.2m) per season.

The best-paid player at Stamford Bridge is new signing Romelu Lukaku on £16.9m (€20m) a season.

At Arsenal, the lowest earner, according to the newspaper, is new Portugal signing Nuno Tavares on £27,000 (€32,000) a week. That is £1.4m (€1.7m) each season.

This dwarves in comparison to the Gunners’ best earner in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is on £13m (€15m) each season.

Meanwhile, at Liverpool, the lowest earner is Neco Williams, who is on £9,000 (€11,000) a week, or £468,000 (€572,000) per year.

Virgil van Dijk is Liverpool’s top dog on £11.4m (€13m) per annum.

The worst-paid player in the entire Premier League is Watford right-back Jeremy Ngakia on £2,500 (€3,000) per week.

The youngster still makes £130,000 (€156,000) each year. Not bad for someone who is the worst-paid player in his profession in his league!
