Chelsea have made a name for themselves in the 2000s for being extremely active in the transfer market.
Whether that's big money signings, or shrewd sales, the Blues are almost always involved in transfer dealings.
With Roman Abramovich as owner, Chelsea had a huge budget to play with, and it's thanks to that influx of money that they were able to keep competing at the very highest level.
And it looks as though that is set to remain the case under Todd Boehly's reign of the west London club.
Boehly spent over €1 billion on new signings in his first year in charge at the club. Many of those players earn huge salaries and on very long contracts.

Romelu Lukaku was Chelsea's highest earner, but his departure on loan again means that new signing Raheem Sterling is now leading in that department.
Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell are also in double figures for millions of pounds earned per year as defenders are well paid at Stamford Bridge. New signing in the summer of 2023 Christopher Nkunku is also in double figures.
All in all, Chelsea have some high earners on their books, but to get results you have to pay when it comes to football, and paying is what the club has become known for over the last two decades.
