Erling Haaland, Dortmund, 2021/22

Erling Haaland joined Manchester City in a mammoth deal that will see him become one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.

Haaland will reportedly earn €439,000-a-week (£375,000) as Man City make a huge statement signing in their bid to finally win the Champions League. That weekly wage equates to €22.83m (£19.5m) across a year.

So how do those numbers compare to the wages of his soon-to-be Man City teammates?

Man City are one of the richest clubs in the world, which inevitably makes them one of the biggest spenders on wages of any club on the planet.

Although the Etihad Stadium side have not necessarily been associated with the type of blockbuster transfer fees of the very biggest teams in the past, they do possess a huge payroll and recent.

De Bruyne famously represented himself during the most recent contract negotiations to become the highest-paid player in the club's history after signing a new deal at the end of May.

Jack Grealish is the second highest-paid player at Man City following his British record £100 million transfer from Aston Villa.

At the start of September 2021, Ederson signed a new five-year deal, while Ruben Dias has been awarded for his fine first season in the Premier League with a massive six-year deal until the summer of 2027.

There are only two players within the senior squad whose contracts expire at the end of the season and they are Fernandinho and Scott Carson

The Brazilian signed a one-year extension during the summer but he is now 37 and has announced he will leave.

Things become a bit more pressing in 2023 as key players like Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus see their deals expire.

Man City are reportedly keen on speaking to Sterling in particular about an extension.

The players currently on the longest deals are Dias, Grealish and Joao Grealish until 2027 and Stones and Ederson until 2026.

Haaland will become the second-highest paid player in Man City's squad once he officially joins on 1 July.
