Better than Bruno: Man Utd 'serious contenders' to sign Premier League ace
Manchester United are 'serious contenders' to sign Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk, according to Ukrainian media.
The Red Devils are in search of a new midfielder. Ruben Amorim wanted to sign Carlos Baleba in the summer, but Man Utd did not manage to break Brighton's resolve.
Amorim may not live to see the next transfer window, with reports suggesting that he could be sacked during the October international break, but the midfield will likely receive attention from the club hierarchy regardless of who is in charge of the playing squad.
Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte have both been earmarked to leave Man Utd next year, while Kobbie Mainoo remains frustrated with his lack of minutes, and Bruno Fernandes continues to field Saudi interest.
Baleba's price - which already stood at over €100 million this summer - will only go up the more he develops, so Man Utd are looking at more affordable alternative targets.
Man Utd to sign Yarmolyuk?
According to Ukrainian journalist Volodymyr Zverov, Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk has emerged as a serious target for the Red Devils, and his price tag of just €35 million (£30m) could make him attractive in 2026.
“I know about the very serious interest of Man Utd in the Ukrainian footballer,” he told Profutbol Digital.“United definitely need to fix the problems in the midfield.
"Brentford aren't the club that will do everything in their power to keep Yarmolyuk, and they are ready to consider offers for the midfielder from £30m. United can be called a serious contender for Yarmolyuk.”
According to data analytics firm SciSports, the 21-year-old has the potential to become better than any of Man Utd's current midfield options except Mainoo. This includes captain Fernandes.
Yarmolyuk currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €21.2m and is under contract at Brentford until 2031.
