Cristiano Ronaldo sends transfer market into frenzy after revealing Al-Nassr exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has all but confirmed he will be looking for a new club this summer after hinting that his time at Al-Nassr is ‘over’ on social media.
Ronaldo’s contract is set to expire next month, with Al-Nassr losing their final game of the season this week to finish third in the Saudi Pro League.
Despite Ronaldo opening the scoring with his 800th club career goal, Al-Nassr succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to Al-Fateh and the Portuguese legend looks set to end his two-year spell in Saudi Arabia without a league title.
Posting on Twitter after the game, Ronaldo effectively confirmed his departure from Al-Nassr, writing: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”
There had been previous suggestions that Ronaldo would pen a new two-year contract with Al-Nassr worth €200 million annually but the club’s failure to push for silverware has seemingly led the forward to reconsider his future.
Having topped the Saudi Pro League scoring charts in his two full campaigns with the club, Ronaldo will leave Al-Nassr with a record of 99 goals in 111 appearances as the 40-year-old begins his search for a new team.
Ronaldo could find new team for Club World Cup
Having been the first major signing in Saudi Arabia’s plan to increase the profile of football in their country, Ronaldo will leave Al-Nassr having made a monumental impact on the league and the influence of bringing top talent to the region.

Ronaldo will have no shortage of offers from teams looking to build their profile by signing one of the biggest names in football history, having already fielded interest from sides in Asia, Africa and South America.
While a return to Europe is perhaps unlikely, Ronaldo may look to quickly find a new team in order to feature in the Club World Cup, which is due to begin next month.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino suggested earlier this month that Ronaldo could sign for a new club and play in the tournament, with teams such as Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca among the teams that could make a move even on a short-term contract.
