CONFIRMED: Cunha agrees Man Utd move and is handed ICONIC shirt number

Matheus Cunha has agreed to become Manchester United’s first major signing of the summer, with the Wolverhampton Wanderers star set for a big-money switch to Old Trafford imminently.
United finished the season on a high as they claimed a controversial 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, but the real highlight of the final day of the Premier League campaign has come in the transfer market for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Ben Jacobs reports that the Red Devils have struck an agreement with Cunha that will see him sign a contract at Old Trafford that will not expire until 2030.
There are no concerns over a transfer fee, meanwhile, with Man Utd ready to trigger the €75 million release clause that was installed in the Brazil attacker’s contract when he signed a new deal at Molineux in January. At that point, he appeared primed to move to Arsenal.
Jacobs took to X to report: “Matheus Cunha has agreed a five-year contract with Man Utd.
“Manchester United will now approach Wolves this week. Cunha has a £62.5m release clause.”

What number will Cunha wear at Man Utd?
In a tantalising extra detail, the football transfer expert also revealed that the Red Devils plan to hand Cunha the No.10 shirt in a show of faith for a player who could be the marquee summer signing at Old Trafford.
Cunha had an excellent record in the Premier League this season, scoring 15 goals and creating six more for a Wolves side that did not excel by any means.
The 25-year-old, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €62.5, crucially showed impressive versatility. He has a capacity to play anywhere across the forward line, and with United liable to cut their squad size this summer, this will be valuable.
Cunha’s arrival further points to the exit of Alejandro Garnacho, whose feud with Man Utd boss Amorim looks increasingly terminal.
