Yildiz to Chelsea or Barcelona? Fabrizio Romano reveals state of play
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed in his latest Italian YouTube video that there is big interest in Kenan Yildiz from Premier League giants and Barcelona.
Romano says that many of Europe's biggest clubs are monitoring the Juventus superstar but that it is in the Premier League where the biggest interest comes from.
He confirms that favourites Chelsea and other giant Premier League clubs are looking at Yildiz as a possible target for 2026.
Chelsea move for Yildiz?
Chelsea tried to move for Yildiz in the summer of 2025 but Romano says that Juventus shut the door on any transfer.
Juventus are working hard to sign Yildiz up to a new contract to prevent the wonderkid from leaving next year.
There have been reports of these talks stalling but Romano insists that Juventus are in constant discussions with Yildiz's camp over a renewal.
Tuttosport claimed this week that there is a gap of €500,000 between Juve's offer and Yildiz's demands of €5m per season.
Yildiz currently earns only €1.5m per season and Tuttosport say that Chelsea hope to blow Juventus out of the water by offering €10m per season.
Arsenal also hold interest in Yildiz and recently sent scouts to watch him.
Yildiz's current contract does not expire until 2029 but Juventus plan to extend his deal with a significant salary increase.
Yildiz is undoubtedly Juventus' star player and is enjoying an excellent start to the season, making four goal contributions in Serie A and scoring a stunning goal in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund. He also scored three goals for Turkey in his last two games.
Could Yildiz leave Juventus?
The Bianconeri consider the 20-year-old as one of the cornerstones from which to build a successful Juventus squad from.
Yildiz himself wants to win major trophies in Turin and is very happy at the club.
So signing Yildiz will not be easy for Chelsea, even if a lot can happen in a year and money always is a factor.
Yildiz has emerged over the last year or so as one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.
The teenager has long been tipped to become a superstar. Juve beat Barcelona to his signature as a 16-year-old in the summer of 2022 when his contract at Bayern Munich expired.
At the time this was considered as a huge coup for a player seen as one of the best in the world at his age group.
Yildiz initially played with Juventus’ Under-19s and Next Gen team in Serie C, but broke into the first team setup midway through 2023-24.
Last season, Yildiz scored 12 goals and made nine assists in all competitions but he appears ready to move onto the next level this campaign.
Yildiz has already been compared to Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero, who was his idol as a kid.
Like the 2006 World Cup winner, Yildiz loves to cut in from the left and boasts wonderful control, technique and the ability to beat a man and unleash a shot in on goal.
He even celebrates in the same way as Del Piero did, sticking out his tongue when he scores. The pair have developed something of a bromance together.
Yildiz has been capped 23 times by Tukey, scoring two goals and playing at Euro 2024.
