Romelu Lukaku believes his success with Inter proves he was right to join the club from Manchester United.

The former Man Utd striker scored the only goal as Inter won 1-0 away to Bologna in Serie A on Saturday.

It was a result that moved Inter closer to Scudetto glory, as they are now eight points clear of nearest challengers Milan with a game in hand.

Lukaku brought up an impressive milestone with his goal for Inter against Bologna.

He has now scored 20 goals in consecutive Serie A seasons, becoming only the seventh Inter player in history to do so.

Lukaku joined Inter from Man Utd in 2019 and was asked about his achievement after the match.

“It is a great moment for me, I made the right decision coming here,” Lukaku said to Inter TV.

“We have all grown a lot. We deal with pressure better and turn it into positive energy.

“This helps us on the pitch and we need to continue in this manner.

“I’m really happy with the win – it was a complicated game.

“We took a big step and need to continue down this road.

“I’ll do everything I can to help the team because I’m nobody without my team-mates.

“The group is the most important thing. We have our aim and need to keep this up.”

Should Inter, as expected, go on to seal Scudetto glory, it would be a first trophy for Lukaku since he won the Belgian league with Anderlecht back in 2010.

He scored 28 goals in 66 Premier League matches for Man Utd, a record that improved to 42 from 96 in all competitions.

Lukaku then joined Inter in a club-record deal worth up to €80 million two years ago.

Without him, Man Utd are still looking for a long-term solution at the number nine positon.

Edinson Cavani was signed towards the end of a frustrating transfer window for Man Utd but injuries have hampered the veteran after an encouraging start.

Mason Greenwood has not yet taken the step forward many fans hoped for after breaking into the team superbly last season, while Anthony Martial has had one of his poorest campaigns since joining the club.

As well as Man Utd, Everton and Chelsea are among Lukaku’s former clubs.

Inter have won nine straight league matches and host Sassuolo on Wednesday as their Scudetto bid continues.
