Ex-Rangers forward Greg Stewart has told his former club to sell Nicolas Raskin this summer if they receive an offer worth €23 million (£20m).

The Belgium international has been an integral player at Ibrox since his arrival from Standard Liege in 2023 and he has played the entire 90 minutes in 17 consecutive Scottish Premiership matches after solidifying his position under new boss Danny Rohl.

Raskin has scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 50 matches across all competitions so far this season, despite nominally playing as a defensive midfielder, however his long-term future at the club remains in doubt.

The 25-year-old’s current contract at Rangers is due to expire in 2028 and rumours have suggested that a sale could be on the cards amid interest from a number of clubs across European football.

Rohl is evidently a huge admirer of Raskin, however former Rangers forward Stewart hasn’t been impressed by the midfielder’s form so far this season and believes that a sale should be considered during the upcoming summer transfer window.

“I'm hoping Raskin has a great World Cup and teams want him for £20 million (€23m),” Stewart told GO Radio (via The Daily Record).

“I'd be selling him. It's his consistency. I don't know if it's the role Danny Rohl is wanting him to play but I just don't think we're seeing the best of him. I love it when he drives forward but I don't feel like we're doing that.

“I see him going in between the two centre-halves to get the ball and try and break lines. I don't see Raskin as a player that can break lines. I don't think he’s that type of player. He's a wee buzzbomb. He can get about the pitch and get into the box with late runs. I don't think we see that enough either from a goalscoring midfielder.

“So I'm hoping he has a great World Cup and teams are desperate to get him.If any bids come in for that sort of money, he needs to go. If we're going to lose out on Champions League money...have we got infinity money or what? Are these Americans going to keep on ploughing money in?”

Analysis: Should Rangers sell Nico Raskin this summer?

Although Stewart isn’t a fan of Raskin, data analytics experts SciSports believe that he is currently the fourth-best player in Rangers’ squad, behind only Andreas Skov Olsen, Derek Cornelius and Mohamed Diomande.

Furthermore, he has consistently been favoured since his arrival at Ibrox and Mikey Moore (€18.1m) is the only Rangers player with a higher Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) than the Belgian (€13.5m).

As a result, Rangers would be foolish to accept a sale unless they receive a substantial offer this summer.
