Celtic have reportedly held further talks with Hibernian as they look to bring Miguel Chaiwa to the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old was earmarked as one of the Hoops’ primary targets in January and although initial negotiations took place during the winter, an agreement could not be finalised between the two clubs.

However, Celtic have remained interested in signing the midfielder and they have been in further contact with Hibernian in recent weeks as they look to finally agree a deal to bring him to Glasgow this summer.

That is according to CeltsAreHere, who report that negotiations between the clubs are ongoing, with Chaiwa understood to be keen on completing a summer move to Celtic Park as he looks to take the next step in his career.

The Zambia international has made 27 appearances for Hibernian since arriving from Young Boys last summer, and the Celtic hierarchy regard him as the perfect player to bolster their midfield options ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Furthermore, it’s reported that Chaiwa’s understanding of the Scottish top flight is another reason why Celtic are keen to sign him, with the club eager to enjoy a more successful campaign next year.

Celtic chase new permanent manager

Despite Celtic’s reported interest in Chaiwa, their main focus ahead of this summer will be appointing a new permanent head coach.

Interim boss Martin O’Neill has already confirmed that he will step down following the conclusion of the current season and the Scottish giants must therefore identify a suitable replacement before the 2026-27 campaign begins.

Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Akou has been widely tipped as the favourite for the job, following an excellent first year at Fir Park, although Roberto Martinez has also been linked with a move to Celtic, with the 52-year-old expected to leave his role as Portugal boss after the World Cup.
