Kilmarnock have reportedly turned down a Transfer Deadline Day offer for David Watson from League One outfit Bolton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old is currently set to become a free agent this summer, however Kilmarnock are reluctant to sanction a mid-season sale as they look to avoid relegation to the Scottish Championship.

Neil McCann’s side view Watson as an integral player and they have now rejected a €578,000 (£500,000) offer from Bolton, as per a report from The Daily Record.

Bolton were keen to land Watson amid their push to achieve promotion back to the Championship, but they look set to miss out on the Scotland U21 international on Deadline Day.

As a result, Watson is expected to be available on a free transfer this summer, with Celtic and Rangers both among the clubs keeping close tabs on the 20-year-old’s development at Rugby Park.

Junior Adamu and Joel Mvuka to join Celtic

Meanwhile, Celtic interim boss Martin O’Neill has seemingly confirmed the imminent arrivals of Freiburg forward Junior Adamu and Lorient winger Joel Mvuka.

Celtic are in advanced talks to sign both players by the end of Deadline Day and they are widely expected to finalise the two transfers before the winter window slams shut at 23:00 BST.

When asked about Adamu and Mvuka after Celtic’s 2-0 win over Falkirk on Sunday, O’Neill admitted: “I think they've either done their medicals or are about to do them, so that helps us a little bit, you know, as much as anything else.

“The first thing I think about, we have Kelechi Iheanacho, who's a very fine player and can hold the ball up, I think. Sometimes he's played very, very little, but I think he can make an impact.

“He might not last games and things like this, so we definitely need someone strong in there. I think Adamu can do that. I think there's a little bit of pace with the young lad from Lorient [Mvuka]. And I think that, yeah, so it'll just give us a couple of options as much as anything else.”
