Irving, who joined West Ham from SK Austria Klagenfurt, has fallen down the pecking order in recent weeks amid the emergence of Freddie Potts and a mid-season exit is expected to take place, as per Claret & Hugh.

Championship side Wrexham are set to lodge a fresh bid for Irving in January, having been rejected by the Scottish midfielder this summer, while Celtic may also rekindle their interest in the 25-year-old after seeing an offer in excess of €2 million turned down by West Ham in August.

Irving has just over six months remaining on his current West Ham contract and Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are reportedly willing to sell the midfielder if they receive a suitable bid from any interested party.

Celtic’s January transfer plans

In addition to Irving, Celtic have also been linked with a move for Palestine international Wessam Abou Ali, who currently plys his trade for Columbus Crew.

The 26-year-old striker has scored three goals and provided one assist in five games since his move to the MLS outfit this summer and incoming Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy is said to be keen to bring Abou Ali with him when he arrives in Scotland.

Fellow Columbus Crew star Diego Rossi has also been linked with a move to Celtic in recent weeks, while Chelsea outcasts Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi have both been touted as possible targets for the reigning Scottish Premiership champions.
