Zenit winger Luis Henrique has become a regular feature for Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil side in recent months, having joined the Russian side in January from Botafogo for €33 million.

The 24-year-old was asked about a potential return to Botafogo in the future and he admitted that, while he was committed to Zenit, his real ambition was to play in the Premier League for Arsenal, whom he said he ‘liked a lot’.

“I can’t talk about [returning to Botafogo] now, because I’m at Zenit and I want to do a good job here,” Henrique told ge globo. “It’s a club with great structure, and I want to make history and win titles. For now, I’m going to keep the Botafogo fans curious. I can’t say if I’m coming back now.

“I’m going to let life take me. I want to fulfil my contract here at Zenit, but I have dreams of playing for a team in England and playing in the Champions League.

Since I was a kid, my dream has always been to play in England. There’s a team there that I like a lot, which is Arsenal. But, as I said, I want to fulfil my contract first.”

Henrique pushing for Premier League move ahead of World Cup

Henrique had previously been linked with Premier League teams such as Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace prior to his move to Russia but no deal ever materialised.

A left-footed right winger, Henrique began his career at Fluminense before moving to Europe in 2022 when he signed for Real Betis for €10m.

However, his time in Spain was largely spent as a rotation player for Betis and he eventually moved to Botafogo in 2024 where he became the most expensive signing in Brazilian history at €16m.

A successful season with Botafogo saw him named South American footballer of the year after leading his side to a Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Serie A double, prompting the move to Zenit.

Henrique’s time with Zenit has only led to three goals in 31 games and it is unlikely that Arsenal would pursue a deal for him but the forward will be hoping to star for Brazil at next summer’s World Cup to spark his chance of his dream move to England.
