Rangers prepare record bid for ‘undeniable asset’ Antman
Rangers are preparing a bid for Oliver Antman, a 23-year-old winger who plays for Go Ahead Eagles.
The Eredivisie club have already drawn attention from Glasgow rivals Celtic, who have long been linked with a bid for Jakob Breum.
Now Rangers are readying an offer to the Deventer club for Antman, who has previously been linked with a move to Championship side Sheffield United.
Go Ahead Eagles are reportedly targeting a transfer fee of around €5.7 million. This would make Antman the most expensive outgoing player in the club's history. That title currently belongs to Willum Willumsson, who moved to Birmingham City last summer for €4m.
Antman's contract runs until mid-2027, with an option for an additional year. The club is, therefore, under no immediate pressure to sell him. Antman played a key role in Go Ahead Eagles’ successful run to win the Dutch Cup last season. In 36 official matches, he scored six goals and provided an impressive 16 assists.
Expert opinion: Antman tipped to thrive in Glasgow
FootballTransfers Netherlands Milan Keskin has been keeping a close eye on Antman’s situation and says the Finland star would be a huge asset to the Ibrox giants.
“Initially, there were major doubts about Antman's move to Go Ahead Eagles, given his previously unsuccessful spell at FC Groningen,” he says. “But Go Ahead Eagles took the gamble and it turned out to be a great success.
“Antman played a key role in the club's success last season, as they finished seventh in the Eredivisie and won the KNVB Cup. No player in the Eredivisie provided more assists than Antman last season, and his pace proved to be an extra weapon. An undeniable asset for Rangers FC!”
Rangers would be picking up a transfer bargain if they match Go Ahead Eagles’ €5.7m asking price. Antman’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €7.7m, fuelled by a campaign that saw him rank among the best wingers in the Eredivisie, according to data analytics firm SciSports.
