Now that the domestic season is over for all major European leagues, clubs can now focus on their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, with a natural focus on recruitment.

Article continues under the video

The big spenders will be out in force again, with Real Madrid looking to back new boss Xabi Alonso, Chelsea keen to improve again after securing Champions League qualification, and Manchester United desperate to reclaim some kind of success after a disastrous season that saw them finish just three places above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have announced the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, though they missed out on Liam Delap, who has joined Chelsea.

With the Club World Cup on the horizon, we will likely see big deals completed earlier than usual from Europe's elite.

That competition begins on Saturday, 14th June.

Some questions that will hang over the transfer window this season:

  • How can Man City replace Kevin De Bruyne?
  • Will Rodrygo leave Real Madrid?
  • How much can Barcelona spend?
  • Will top players want to join Man Utd?
  • Will Arsenal sign a world-class striker?

Liverpool could take advantage of Chelsea's Ekitike hesitancy

Chelsea need to act quickly if they want to sign Hugo Ekitike as Liverpool are also looking at the player.

The Eintracht Frankfurt forward scored 15 goals and recorded eight assists in 33 Bundesliga matches in 2024/25 and his performances led to a valuation by the German side of around €100 million.

No side has been willing to pay that amount, but Liverpool could swoop in with an offer if Chelsea continue to drag their feet. (BILD)

Harvey Elliott to consider Liverpool future

It seems Harvey Elliott is unsure whether he'll be at Liverpool next season.

"It's just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I'm coming into an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season," he said when asked by reporters if he could leave Anfield.

"I don't really want to be wasting years on my career because it's a short career. You don't know what's going to happen. I need to reflect. I need to see if I'm content in doing what I'm doing and how can I improve as a player because that's the most important thing.

"I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that's to go somewhere else, then it's a decision that I'm going to have to make and I just need to see what happens. Nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it's just about what's best for my career."

Elliott made just six starts in all competitions for the Reds this past campaign.

Hojlund says he's staying at Man Utd

Rasmus Hojlund insists he's staying at Man Utd for next season.

The former Atalanta striker has not lived up to expectations since his big-money move to Old Trafford and has been linked with a move away this summer, with Inter reportedly looking to sign him on loan with an option to buy.

But, the player himself says he's going nowhere.

"‘I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United," Hojlund told reporters.

"I’m looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I’m fully dedicated to the project that’s underway."

Everton now in Grealish hunt

Everton have joined the race to sign Jack Grealish from Man City.

It seems the winger's time at City is up after he was left out of the squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.

He was previously linked with a return to Aston Villa, while Tottenham, Napoli and Milan have all been credited with an interest. Everton are interested, too, but the Toffees are only able to sign him on loan due to his high wages at the Etihad. (Mail)

Liverpool make FINAL Wirtz bid

So far, the negotiations between Liverpool and Leverkusen over the potential transfer of Florian Wirtz haven't led to a deal being struck.

The Reds have made two bids for the Germany international so far, both of which have been rejected.

Leverkusen are holding out for €140 million, but Liverpool will return with a third and final bid of €130m, reports the Mail.
