Chelsea make initial move for €100m summer signing
Chelsea have reportedly made an initial move in their bid to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic this summer.
The Germany international has emerged as a top transfer target for Liam Rosenior’s side in recent weeks and they are widely expected to battle for his signature when the 2026 summer transfer window opens in June.
Pavlovic has established himself as an integral player at the Allianz Arena over the past 12 months and his form is being closely monitored by several top European clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City.
In fact, the former have now made an initial move as they look to tempt Bayern into a summer sale.
That is according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, who report that Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Pavlovic’s situation in Bavaria amid their pursuit of a new central midfielder.
Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo have both returned to full fitness in recent weeks and Liam Rosenior’s midfield roster is now extremely strong, with Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Andrey Santos and club captain Reece James all at his disposal.
However, the reigning Club World Cup champions have still been tipped to bolster their options in the middle of the park this summer, and Pavlovic has been earmarked as a top target by the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.
Despite this, Bayern have no intention of selling the 21-year-old and they will reportedly demand an offer of at least €100 million to open negotiations.
Verdict: Will Aleksandar Pavlovic join Chelsea?
While Chelsea view Pavlovic as a top target for 2026, the Germany midfielder wants to stay at Bayern for the foreseeable future, as per Fichajes.
He has racked up 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season and the Bayern hierarchy believe he will be an integral player at the Allianz Arena for years to come.
Furthermore, when asked about head coach Vincent Kompany over the weekend, Pavlovic was quick to heap praise on the Bayern boss.
“Vincent Kompany has a huge influence. He simply knows how I play football and how I think, and he’s also taken me to another level defensively,” Pavlovic told Sky Germany (via Bavarian Football Works).
“That’s why he’s so important, and it’s a lot of fun to play under him.”
