Now that the domestic season is over for all major European leagues, clubs can now focus on their preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, with a natural focus on recruitment.

The big spenders will be out in force again, with Real Madrid looking to back new boss Xabi Alonso, Chelsea keen to improve again after securing Champions League qualification, and Manchester United desperate to reclaim some kind of success after a disastrous season that saw them finish just three places above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have announced the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, though they missed out on Liam Delap, who has joined Chelsea.

With the Club World Cup on the horizon, we will likely see big deals completed earlier than usual from Europe's elite, with the deadline for participation in that competition set at 10th June.

That competition begins on Saturday, 14th June.

Some questions that will hang over the transfer window this season:

  • How can Man City replace Kevin De Bruyne?
  • Will Rodrygo leave Real Madrid?
  • How much can Barcelona spend?
  • Will top players want to join Man Utd?
  • Will Arsenal sign a world-class striker?

Ten Hag did NOT want Antony at Man Utd

It has been claimed that Erik ten Hag didn't want Man Utd to splash the cash on Antony a few years ago.

The Brazilian has flopped at Old Trafford since his £86 million transfer from Ajax and spent the second half of last season on loan at Betis, where he found some form. In a new book by Bart Noelles, he claims that Ten Hag's agent Kees Vos told him that the Dutch coach did not want Antony at United.

“Ten Hag and Vos were not in favour of this and wanted to stop the transfer," Noelles told Viaplay while promoting his book, 'Liverpool and the Dutch'.

"But the club wanted to push through at all costs, because Arsenal was also interested in Antony.”

Antony hit 'rock bottom' at Man Utd

Antony says he hit "rock bottom" because of his troubles at Man Utd.

The winger was recently called up to the Brazil national side for the first time in two years - an emotional return considering he was shipped out on loan to Betis after a disastrous spell at Old Trafford.

"It was one of the most emotional moments," Antony told Brazil's Football Confederation. "I mentioned to some friends here in the national team that this call-up was more exciting than the first time I came here and it was even more emotional because of everything I've been through.

"Being in good shape, hitting rock bottom, and having the resilience that I had, with the help of God and my family, was very important."

Tottenham and Man Utd battle for TWO players

Tottenham and Man Utd are interested in both Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils have been monitoring Semenyo for a while but Spurs' recent interest may catalyse them into making an actual offer.

The Mbeumo situation is more complicated as he appeared destined for Man Utd, but with Thomas Frank set to be appointed Tottenham manager, he may follow his former boss to North London. (Sky Sports)

Burnley slap HUGE asking price on Esteve

Burnley want at least £50 million for Maxime Esteve.

The French defender was key for the Clarets this past season as he played every single one of the 46 Championship matches on the way to earning promotion back to the Premier League.

Former Burnley manager and current Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany is a keen admirer, though the German champions may be put off by that asking price. (Football Insider)

Gyokeres 'FURIOUS' with Sporting

Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly extremely unhappy with Sporting after they moved the goalkposts regarding his asking price.

Portuguese outlet Record reports that there was a "gentleman's agreement" between player and club that he would be allowed to leave for €60 million plus €10m in bonuses.

However, any clubs that have approached Sporting regarding Gyokeres have been told that the asking price is at least €80m.

Surprise suitor for Grealish

Bayer Leverkuen have emerged as surprise suitors for Jack Grealish.

The Man City attacking midfielder will likely leave the club this summer after he was left out of the squad for the upcoming Club World Cup.

They want £50 million for Grealish, which will actually be affordable for Leverkusen who are about to earn about £120m from the sale of Florian Wirtz. (Sun)

Zubimendi still heading to Arsenal?

Those Arsenal fans worried about Martin Zubimendi need not fret as it appears the Real Sociedad midfielder will indeed sign for the Gunners instead of Real Madrid.
