Man Utd plot 'sneaky' signing of USMNT star
Manchester United are concretely interested in a summer move for Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams, according to a report.
The USMNT midfielder has returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and he looks like he hasn't missed a beat. Adams has been his usual self for Bournemouth, impressing with his tenacity in the middle of the park.
His consistently strong form has earned him admirers around England. Man Utd, in particular, are understood to be long-term suitors of the 27-year-old, dating back to his time playing for hated rivals Leeds.
Ahead of Bournemouth's clash with Man Utd in December, Adams fawned over Old Trafford and revealed that previously playing there with RB Leipzig ignited a fire in him to move to the Premier League.
At the time, rumours first emerged that he could be a wildcard signing for the Red Devils this year. His transfer audition, however, did not go as planned, as he had to be substituted early on in the game due to injury.
Adams a 'sneaky' signing for Man Utd?
The enforced break ruined any chance of a January move, but it could be a different story this summer. With Adams back fit and set to play a starring role for the US at the World Cup, he is expected to become a sought-after commodity following the conclusion of this season.
Indeed, TEAMtalk reports that Adams could be a "sneaky" midfield signing for Man Utd, who have been linked with marquee names such as Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton.
Man Utd are planning to make at least two midfield additions this summer, so Adams could join even if he is not currently among the club's top targets. Bournemouth's valuation of around €50 million makes him fairly affordable compared to some of the other options.
Bournemouth know their place in the food chain and will sell if their asking price is met. Adams, too, would surely jump at the chance to make the move. At 27, it may be his final chance to join one of the biggest clubs in the world.
However, Man Utd are not the only club keeping tabs on his exploits. The report claims that Chelsea and Liverpool are also monitoring his situation as they seek midfield reinforcements. A move this summer looks increasingly likely.
