Real Madrid's next Galactico is chosen: Perez promises record-breaking bid
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has chosen Bayern Munich superstar Michael Olise as his next Galactico signing, according to an insider.
The France international has enjoyed two remarkable seasons with the Bundesliga giants since joining from Crystal Palace. Olise has developed into one of the standout performers in European football in Munich.
The 24-year-old has produced an eye-watering 35 goals and 50 assists in 93 appearances for Bayern thus far. This has naturally sparked some feelings of regret at the clubs that turned their nose up at him in 2024 because of his cost.
Among the sides known to dream of signing Olise are Liverpool, who view him as the perfect heir to Mohamed Salah, and PSG, who want him to complete their French superteam.
However, another club has recently entered the fray. Reports have suggested that Real Madrid are also interested in Olise, and this has now been corroborated by Bayern insider Christian Falk.
Perez is pushing for Olise
According to the journalist, it is Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, in particular, who has become enamoured with Olise. He wants to make the winger his next Galactico.
The right flank has been something of a problem position for Los Blancos recently. Rodrygo, before his injury issues, did an adequate job, but it has never been a secret that he preferred playing on the left. Due to his ACL injury, he is now set to miss the next nine months of action, if not more.
Perez would like to sign Olise as an upgrade for that position, but this appears to be a nearly impossible undertaking. Bayern don't want to sell - they actually want to hand him a new deal - and he does not have a release clause.
However, everyone has a price, even players at a club like Bayern. In the case of Olise, it is asserted that Perez is willing to set a new LaLiga record for an incoming signing by shelling out as much as €165 million. This would make him the third-most-expensive player ever.
If such a bid were indeed to materialise, Bayern would have to consider a sale, says Falk. "It is true [that] Real Madrid are interested in Michael Olise," the journalist explained. "This comes directly from the club president, Florentino Perez.
"The season isn’t a typical one for Real Madrid, so I think he wants to give a present to the supporters to make up for it! And wouldn’t this be some present for the summer transfer window!
"It’s not looking good on the right wing for Madrid; Rodrygo is injured, and Olise, meanwhile, is having a fantastic season in Munich. And yes, according to the rumours, Real Madrid are thinking of a €160m-165m offer.
"If this actually came about, FC Bayern would have to discuss it; they’d have to talk to Michael about it. However, at the end, Bayern Munich are not a seller’s club. They’re a buyer’s club. They have a contract with Michael Olise, and he currently has no release clause!
"So, there’s no immediate plan to sell him. But, of course, such crazy numbers would be a big deal. So it would, perhaps, not be so easy to say no."
