Fabrizio Romano: Real Madrid agree first January transfer
Real Madrid have reached a full agreement with Olympique Lyon for the loan transfer of Endrick, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Brazil international is determined to get minutes under his belt ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America. Endrick missed the Club World Cup and pre-season due to injury, so he has been playing catch-up under Xabi Alonso so far.
As a result, the Spanish tactician has only rarely used the 19-year-old striker. Endrick made his first appearance of the season only in November, and he has to date played just 99 minutes of football, the majority of which came against lower-league side Talavera in the Copa del Rey.
For weeks, the expectation has unsurprisingly been that the youngster would be sent out on loan in the January window. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed in October that Olympique Lyon had opened talks with Real Madrid over a deal.
Now, Romano has announced that a full agreement for this transfer is in place. The deal is done and will be formally completed when the Ligue 1 window opens on January 1.
Endrick set for Lyon loan
Endrick had suitors around Europe, but the circumstance that tipped the balance in Lyon's favour was the fact that the Ligue 1 giants have often been forced to play without a recognised striker this season, which will allow the teenager to immediately become a guaranteed starter.
Lyon had to operate under financial sanctions in the summer and needed to make sales to balance the books, so they were unable to sign an adequate replacement for Georges Mikautadze.
They have therefore had to rely on loanee Martin Satriano, who has scored just three times, and reserve striker Enzo Molebe to lead the line. The move to Lyon will allow Endrick to rack up plenty of minutes in the second half of the season, provided he stays fit, of course.
Lyon will cover 50 per cent of the youngster's wages, but they will not have a purchase option. Endrick is determined to make his breakthrough at Real Madrid in the future and will return to the Spanish capital in the summer.
