Barcelona 'open door' to Man Utd transfer
Barcelona have reportedly “opened the door” to potentially selling Dani Olmo in 2026, despite the fact he only rejoined the club last summer.
The 27-year-old returned to Camp Nou following an impressive Euro 2024 with Spain and he played a key role under Hansi Flick during his first season back at the club.
Olmo registered 12 goals and seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions in 2024-25 and he was largely favoured ahead of his compatriot Fermin Lopez, who was restricted to a rotation role last term.
However, Fermin rejected the chance to join Chelsea this summer in favour of remaining at Barcelona and he may now have jumped ahead of Olmo in the pecking order following his brace against Valencia on Sunday evening.
Olmo has only started one of Barcelona’s four La Liga fixtures so far this season and the club are now contemplating a sale, according to a bombshell report from Fichajes.
The Spain international still has five years remaining on his current contract at Camp Nou, however Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for his services if they are deemed suitable by both the club and the player.
Dani Olmo to leave Barcelona?
Several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, have been linked with Olmo in recent years and they could opt to rekindle their interest in his signature now that Barcelona have opened the door to a transfer.
The former RB Leipzig star has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €55.5 million, and Fichajes believe that his future at Barcelona is no longer certain, with the Blaugrana hierarchy unconvinced by his form this year and his slightly patchy injury record.
However, a sale will reportedly only be permitted if Barcelona are able to line up a suitable replacement.
