Barcelona have reached a full agreement to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Hansi Flick’s side have been in talks over a deal for the Spain international all week and a deal has now been finalised, with Rodri set to be formally announced as a Blaugrana player shortly.

"Exclusive: Rodri to Barcelona, here we go," Romano posted on X. "Deal agreed for Spanish midfielder to join Barca from Man City, all done for the former Ballon d’Or. Green light from Man City to last Barcelona bid."

Meanwhile, David Ornstein has confirmed that Barca will pay an initial fee of €60 million to sign the 30-year-old, with a further €16.5m in possible add-ons.

Rodri had been linked with a move to El Clasico rivals Real Madrid earlier this summer, but Barcelona quickly emerged as the most likely candidates to secure his signature and a deal has now been struck with Man City.

The Spain international, who won the Golden Ball at this summer's World Cup, will become Barcelona's fourth signing of the window when the transfer is officially completed, following Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Bisiwu.

The 30-year-old will leave Man City having won 13 trophies, including the 2023 Champions League, in 298 appearances for the club. He is expected to partner international team-mate Pedri at the heart of Barcelona's midfield during the upcoming season, with Frenkie de Jong currently ruled out through injury.

Rodri to leave Man City

Rodri was omitted from Man City's matchday squad for their 3-0 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield final on Sunday afternoon, due to transfer speculation, and his exit is likely to be announced within the next few days.

Man City have already spent €135 million on Elliot Anderson so far this summer, but they remain in talks with Lille over a deal worth over €100m for Ayyoub Bouaddi, while they are expected to intensify their pursuit of Enzo Fernandez following confirmation that Rodri will depart.

However, Chelsea set a deadline of 17:00 BST on Friday 14 August to sanction a sale for €140m and after failing to agree a deal by that time, it remains to be seen if Man City will be able to tempt Xabi Alonso's side into a transfer.

Fernandez is understood to be open to the move, with the Argentina international keen to be reunited with Man City boss Enzo Maresca following their successful spell together at Stamford Bridge.

If the 25-year-old is able to complete a move to Man City before the end of the window, Chelsea have been tipped to rekindle their interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott.
