Roy Keane singles out Man Utd star: He’s been getting away with murder!
Manchester United’s 3-0 loss against Manchester City has sparked anger and frustration at the state of Ruben Amorim’s side – and Roy Keane has not held back.
Despite an investment of €250 million in the playing staff this summer, the Reds have picked up only four points from their opening four Premier League matches.
With a trip to Chelsea next week, they face the prospect of becoming entrenched in the lower half of the Premier League table, where they spent the duration of last season.
Gary Neville said Sunday’s derby loss left him feeling “nothing” at the Red Devils’ defeat, but fellow Man Utd legend Roy Keane was more outspoken.
The Irishman singled out Luke Shaw for criticism. Man Utd’s longest-serving player was deployed as a left-sided centre-back but struggled to cope with City’s attacking power and was left standing by Jeremy Doku for City’s opening goal.
’Luke Shaw doesn’t want to tackle anyone!’
“Shaw is an international footballer, so for him to get caught out like that. I think he has been getting away with murder for years at United. Always injured and never quite fit,” Keane grumbled.
“We make excuses and then he gets a few games under his belt and he's making decisions like he doesn't even want to tackle anyone. Not one yellow card. The Manchester derby, it's raining and set up for a few tackles.
“United walk off the pitch! I am sick of repeating myself. It's a derby game. You shouldn't be able to get out of bed for a week, not one yellow card! Try tackling. Try hitting somebody. Football is a physical game.”
Derby defeat has seen the pressure crank up on Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim, who worked hard to get rid of much of the deadwood at Old Trafford over the summer, but according to Keane, at least, there is still more to be done.
