Rodrygo transfer to cause WAR as Arsenal prepare opening offer
Barcelona will reportedly pursue a bombshell move for Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo if he opts to leave Los Blancos this summer.
The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a Santiago Bernabeu departure in recent weeks and it’s understood that Xabi Alonso’s side are open to sanctioning a sale ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Rodrygo only played 92 minutes from a possible 540 at the recent Club World Cup, with Alonso favouring academy star Gonzalo Garcia in a centre forward role, and talk of an exit has intensified following his limited involvement at the tournament.
Arsenal and Liverpool are known admirers of the 24-year-old, and they have both been tipped to target a transfer this summer.
However, they are set to face shock competition from Real Madrid’s El Clasico rivals Barcelona.
That is according to a surprise report from Brazilian outlet UOL, who claim that Hansi Flick’s side are keeping close tabs on Rodrygo’s situation at the Santiago Bernabeu ahead of a possible summer bid.
Barcelona have reportedly contacted intermediaries to register their interest in Rodrygo and they are open to initiating negotiations if the Brazilian makes it clear that he would like to leave Real Madrid.
The Blaugrana are on the verge of signing Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford on loan, however they are also monitoring Rodrygo’s situation after missing out on Athletic Club superstar Nico Williams.
Arsenal prepare Rodrygo offer
News of Barcelona’s interest in Rodrygo comes after CaughtOffside reported that Arsenal are preparing an opening offer worth €80m for the 24-year-old.
The Gunners have confirmed the arrival of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke on a five-year contract, however they remain interested in bolstering Mikel Arteta’s attacking options and Rodrygo is still a key target.
Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze remains on Arsenal’s radar too, although the north London giants are currently focused on finalising a deal for Viktor Gyokeres amid an ongoing dispute with Sporting CP over add-on payments for the Sweden international.
