Real Madrid’s obsession with signing players from Liverpool goes on, with head coach Xabi Alonso hoping to plunder the Anfield side for another star figure.

Los Blancos snapped up Trent Alexander-Arnold in a €10 million deal earlier this summer so he could be available for the former Bayer Leverkusen coach during the Club World Cup, while it is hotly speculated that Ibrahima Konate will move to the Bernabeu as a free agent when his deal with Liverpool expires in 2026.

But there is another player that Real Madrid are looking to snap up, according to Fichajes, which states that Ryan Gravenberch is being targeted by the 15-time European champions.

Gravenberch valued for his big-game qualities

Alonso wants him to work alongside Aurelien Tchouameni in the heart of the midfield, with the 23-year-old having grown into a key performer in Arne Slot’s side.

The Spanish source claims that “inside sources” have revealed that one of Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham or Federico Valverde could leave Real Madrid next summer, opening the door to a blockbuster midfield move.

Surprisingly, it adds that Liverpool value Gravenberch around the €75m mark. This price would make the 23-year-old one of the bargains of the summer. He has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €86m, while logic would suggest that the Reds would aim for even more than that figure, given the clear importance the tireless midfielder has under Slot.

Xabi Alonso, though, is a fan. He sees Gravenberch as a player who could come into his team and make a difference in crucial games, particularly those in which winning the ball back is of critical importance to Madrid.

The Spanish coach is known to favour a high-intensity approach to his defensive philosophy, and Gravenberch has both the engine and the technique to adapt to this expectation.

With tension between the clubs high due to the cases of Alexander-Arnold and Konate, Real Madrid are unlikely to get any favours from the Reds in this particular case, no matter how much Alonso may admire him.
