Real Madrid put Vini Jr up for sale
Real Madrid have named their price for Vinicius Junior in a move that effectively puts the Brazil international on the transfer market.
Vini Jr has found himself in dispute with the Bernabeu side for months over a new contract.
Although his current deal does not expire until 2027, Real Madrid have been fighting to tie the Brazil international down to a longer deal. Vini wants pay parity with Kylian Mbappe, but Los Blancos are unwilling to offer him that.
The attacker has been closely linked with a blockbuster move to the Saudi Pro League, but The Transfers Podcast powered by FootballTransfers has revealed that the Bernabeu hierarchy is growing tired of him using this as leverage to force a move.
Now Real Madrid have taken a concrete step towards selling the Ballon d’Or runner-up by naming a price they are willing to sell the player for.
A bid of €150 million would be sufficient to press them into a sale, according to Defensa Central.
Real Madrid have taken this action because they believe he will run his contract down until 2026 and force them into what is described as a “drastic decision”.
This coincides with a distinct downturn in Vini Jr’s form.
Nevertheless, the club still wants him to remain in the Spanish capital. One unnamed source claims: “The priority is for Vinícius to stay, but not at any price. Madrid has always put itself before its players, and this will be no exception.”
Xabi Alonso on Vini Jr
Xabi Alonso has been pressed to comment on the Brazilian’s situation.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s La Liga clash against Real Oviedo, he said: “I think he’s well. We’re only a short time into the season. We’re just getting started.
“Everyone is eager to have a good season and everyone is in a good frame of mind.”
Vini Jr has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €101m, making him one of 18 players worth more than €100m. He trails Mabppe and Jude Bellingham as Real Madrid’s most valuable star, though.
