Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri looks set to be shipped out on loan in the summer - and a club legend could well help progress his career.

FootballTransfers has looked at data to see which clubs could be best suited for the Uruguayan - with Michael Carrick’s Middlesborough coming out as one of the best destinations.

SciSports algorithm shows that Boro, along with Championship sides Stoke City, Bristol City, and Wigan Athletic would be among the best sides to take the player on. It was the Potters whose club fit metric of 85 took the top billing.

We also looked at sides abroad that would be ideal for Pellistri, and Espanyol and Mallorca of La Liga appeared to be the best equipped to have the player on loan.

Pellistri's future

Pellistri is set for talks over a new contract with the Red Devils. Next month the player and his representatives will meet to talk about a new deal. Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to say that talks are planned ahead of his move away on loan.

The reporter said: “Understand Manchester United are now considering a new contract proposal to Facundo Pellistri before letting him go on loan next season.

“No decision made yet on both sides but concrete talks will take place in April to plan Facundo’s future.”

Pellistri has been handed several cameos this season but a loan move is considered ideal for his development.

He is still waiting for his first start this season but looked good after he came off the bench against Real Betis last Thursday, as his side ran out 4-1 winners.

Edgardo Lasalvia, the agent of Facundo Pellistri, said in January: “I think that with a good World Cup – which we believe he will have – his departure is imminent.”

Obviously, the move hasn’t happened yet but it looks like he will eventually depart Old Trafford, on a temporary basis at least.
