Inter Miami striker decision

Lionel Messi has received big news in recent hours, with Inter Miami’s striker for the 2026 MLS season unveiled after much transfer speculation.

Inter Miami have made an official announcement and it is an important one. In recent weeks, there were several reports linking different strikers with a move to Inter Miami,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“One of those names was Timo Werner. From what I’m told, Werner could end up in MLS, but not at Inter Miami. So that deal is not happening.

“Inter Miami were also linked with Robert Lewandowski, but again, from what I’m hearing, this is not a deal that is happening.

“There were also links with Neymar Jr.. The situation there is quite clear. Before the World Cup, the expectation is for Neymar to negotiate a new contract with Santos. Santos are pushing to get the deal done and the most likely solution is for Neymar to stay at Santos at least until the 2026 World Cup, and then decide his future.

“Inter Miami have now confirmed that their striker for the new season will be Luis Suarez. Suarez has signed a new contract until 2026 and will stay at the club after winning the MLS Cup alongside Lionel Messi. So no Lewandowski, no Werner and no Neymar for Inter Miami in this transfer window.”

Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes’ declaration that he felt that Manchester United wanted to sell him last summer has posed a new issue for Ruben Amorim and the Red Devils. Romano has now revealed what the situation is for the Portuguese playmaker.

Bruno Fernandes released a very strong interview in recent days. Just to clarify one thing, the interview was recorded in November, even if it was released recently. That doesn’t change the importance of what Bruno said,” Romano said.

“Bruno made it very clear that he had the feeling Manchester United were prepared to let him go last summer. He said he decided to stay because he loves the club and also because of the manager, Ruben Amorim.

“Bruno explained that Amorim was the one who really wanted him to stay, while the club, in his feeling, were not desperate to keep him. Bruno believes United were ready to accept a proposal from Saudi Arabia.

“This is important because Bruno himself stopped that move. Saudi clubs wanted him in 2023, in 2024 and again in 2025, and every time Bruno said no. He also didn’t close the door to a future move, saying that one day playing in Saudi Arabia could be an option.

“What I can tell you is that for January, the situation is completely quiet. Nothing is imminent. For the summer transfer window, I would keep an eye on Saudi interest because they are expected to try again.

“At the moment, Bruno is fully focused on Manchester United. But in the future, the Saudi option will return, and it will be up to Bruno and the club to decide.”

Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee

Further controversy arrived at Old Trafford with regards Kobbie Mainoo, whose half-brother wore a controversial T-shirt to the 4-4 draw with Bournemouth.

“On Manchester United, let me also confirm the situation of Kobbie Mainoo. After what we saw at Old Trafford, including the message from his family, the desire of the player remains clear. Mainoo wants to play,” Romano said.

“This is not about a permanent transfer. This is about a loan move to get regular game time. There is a World Cup coming and Mainoo has started zero Premier League games this season.

Napoli are pushing strongly. They see Mainoo as a crucial target and believe he would be tempted by the move, especially after the success of players like Scott McTominay there.

“Roma remain very interested in Joshua Zirkzee, but again, everything depends on Manchester United. Several players will be away at AFCON, and Ruben Amorim doesn’t want to find himself with a very short squad.

“The position of Mainoo is very honest. He wants to play, develop and improve, with the idea of possibly returning to Manchester United as a better player in the future.”

Antoine Semenyo attracting Premier League interest

One deal that is looking increasingly likely to be completed in January is Antoine Semenyo to depart Bournemouth. The Ghana winger has a release clause in his deal with the Cherries and is seen as a potential bargain.

Romano explained: “Antoine Semenyo’s situation is really heating up.

Tottenham have genuine and strong interest and are being very aggressive. But the final decision will depend on the player.

“In the last 48 hours, both Manchester United and Manchester City made contact to understand the situation. The price is around £65 million.

Liverpool also called back in November, but they are now assessing their priorities, especially with the situation of Mo Salah, before deciding whether to move in January.

“So there are several clubs involved. Tottenham are pushing hard, City and United are in contact, Liverpool are monitoring, and now the key factor will be the player’s decision.”
