Dani Ceballos has offered his advice to Real Madrid outcast Martin Odegaard as he weighs up the possibility of a January move to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old has made just nine appearances so far this season, and was left out of the squad for Wednesday’s shock Copa del Rey defeat to third-tier Alcoyano.

As such, the possibility of a mid-season departure has emerged, with Arsenal and Real Sociedad among the clubs reportedly keen on a deal.

Odegaard impressed on loan with the latter last season, scoring seven goals across 36 outings in all competitions.

He also has history with the Gunners, who attempted to sign him from Stromsgodset when Real eventually secured a deal in the summer of 2014.

Asked what he would do, Ceballos, who is in his second season on loan at the Emirates from the Spanish champions, encouraged Odegaard to seek regular playing time.

“I can tell you about what happened to me at Madrid,” he told EFE.

“I don’t know exactly what happens about Martin, but it is obvious that any player who wants to succeed at Madrid is going to grab the opportunity he has.

“I don’t know what Martin’s thoughts are but I know mine and I think that when you are young and you have goals and objectives, what you need is to play regularly and if you don’t, it’s like something is missing.

“I imagine that is what is happening to Martin.”
