Kylian Mbappe appears unlikely to move to Real Madrid before the end of the summer transfer window, although given the drama surrounding the PSG star in recent weeks, nothing should be discounted.

Nevertheless, the 24-year-old has been welcomed back into the PSG squad and marked his return with a goal in a 1-1 draw against Toulouse on Saturday.

Mbappe made it clear that he had no plans to join Real Madrid this summer – but the possibility was certainly open to him if both he and the Spanish club had agreed. Instead, the probability is that he will move to Los Blancos next summer, although a new contract at the Ligue 1 club could yet complicate that.

While the astronomical bonus payments he stands to receive at PSG are reason enough to explain why he is not pushing for a transfer, it has now been revealed why Real Madrid are reticent to make a move presently.

Mbappe risks upsetting Real Madrid balance

Mbappe remains in Real Madrid’s plans, according to Defensa Central, which reports that Los Blancos are eager not to disrupt their squad and, in particular, not to shake up their attack.

It is stated that if Mbappe were to join Madrid now, it would destabilise Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

The 4-3-1-2 formation in which Jude Bellingham has flourished in his early weeks at the Bernabeu may no longer be possible if the France attacker were to join up, while there is also a sense of fear that Rodrygo would be collateral damage to any more.

Vinicius Junior’s role in the team would also be affected.

With the balance of the Real Madrid attack under threat, president Florentino Perez has, therefore, judged a transfer move for Mbappe at this point in time the wrong thing to do.
