Celtic 'favourites' to sign Champions League goal machine
Celtic are reportedly the “favourites” to sign Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh during the upcoming summer transfer window, amid competition from Leeds United.
Hogh scored five goals and provided three assists in 12 Champions League games this season as Bodo/Glimt came within touching distance of the quarter-finals, and his form has attracted significant interest from across Europe.
Celtic and Leeds are understood to be among the clubs interested in finalising a deal for Hogh this summer, although the 25-year-old is eager to continue playing in the Champions League next season.
While Leeds have no chance of qualifying for Europe’s elite club competition, Celtic could still book their place in the competition if they are able to finish in the top two places in the Scottish Premiership and advance through the qualifying rounds. As a result, the Hoops are currently the favourites to beat Leeds to his signature this summer.
That is according to Football Insider, who claim that Bodo/Glimt are determined to retain the services of the 25-year-old this summer, despite Celtic’s keen interest.
Celtic want to sign Kasper Hogh
In order to help fund a move for Hogh, it’s reported that Celtic are willing to sell Johnny Kenny on a permanent deal ahead of next season, with the Republic of Ireland striker currently on loan at League One outfit Bolton Wanderers.
Daizen Maeda, Kelechi Iheanacho and January signings Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu have shared duties as Celtic’s number nine so far this season, but the club are keen to land a long-term option and Hogh has been identified as a top target.
The Denmark centre forward, who is still yet to earn his first senior cap for his country, was also linked with a move to Celtic Park in January, but a proposed deal failed to materialise and his reputation has since increased dramatically as a result of his Champions League exploits.
