John Terry pleads with UEFA and FIFA to soften drug testing rules after John McGinn complaints
John Terry believes football's governing bodies need to soften their regulations on drug testing when it comes to specific moments and matches.
Last month, Scotland qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998 after defeating Denmark at Hampden Park. The celebrations in Glasgow were joyful among the players, staff and supporters.
One man who was pulled away from the celebrations was John McGinn, who was required to undertake a drug test.
Terry thinks players should be allowed to celebrate these iconic moments.
"Anyone who watched the Scotland game last night and saw John McGinn, the emotion and his interview after the game. And then, he’s posted on social media this morning that, unfortunately, he got drug tested after the game," Terry posted in a social media video the morning after the game.
"So, anyone who doesn’t know. You get drug tested after a game and get taken to a separate room away from the celebrations.
"McGinn said in his interview, it’s one of the best nights of his life so far. And then, he misses out on all the celebrations, all the photos."
The Chelsea legend revealed the same thing happened to Petr Cech when Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich to win the Champions League back in 2012.

"It happened to Petr Cech, back in 2012 in Munich," Terry continued.
"We win the Champion League, best and biggest night in the club’s history and, unfortunately, there’s no picture of big Pete because he’s getting drug tested in a separate room."
Ultimately, Terry believes UEFA and FIFA need to "look at" the regulations currently in place so that footballers can enjoy the most special moments of their career.
"I think it’s something that UEFA and FIFA need to look at, because it’s these moments, as players, that you live for and you cherish," he explained.
"I think it’s something that we should look into.
"Back in the day, when I played a very long time ago, the drug testers used to come in the dressing room and chaperone you around and stay with you to make sure nothing happened. When you went to the toilet they would follow you into the toilet, when you went for a shower they would follow you.
"Feeling for you John McGinn this morning!"
