It’s very rare that a transfer works out for all parties involved, with the intricacies of every deal often meaning there is at least one loser. However, Nicolas Jackson’s €55.5 million move from Chelsea to Aston Villa has bucked that trend.

The Senegal star netted a brace during Villa’s emphatic 6-0 win over Fenerbahce in the Champions League on Wednesday night to continue his excellent start to life with the Midlands outfit.

Jackson was heavily pursued by Unai Emery last summer, with the Villa boss keen to reunite with his former Villarreal pupil, and after missing out on his signature, a deal was finally arranged in August.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and while rumours hinted that he could be reintegrated at Chelsea following the appointment of Xabi Alonso, a sale was soon finalised following a lucrative offer from Aston Villa.

Less than two months later, it’s fair to say the deal has been almost perfect for Jackson, Villa and Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa: The perfect transfer?

From Chelsea’s perspective, Jackson’s form since his arrival at Aston Villa may be slightly frustrating, but they already have Joao Pedro as their first-choice striker and there is little reason to suggest that Alonso would’ve been willing to drop the Brazil international from his preferred starting XI.

Meanwhile, the Blues earned a tidy profit on Jackson, having signed him for €33m and sold him for €55.5m, and his form since arriving at Villa could help them in future transfer windows too.

Their transfer model relies upon selling players and if clubs know that buying from Chelsea is a reliable strategy, the west London giants will continue to be market-leaders in regards to player sales.

For Villa, Jackson is an upgrade on the departed Ollie Watkins and he is crucially five years younger than the England striker.

Jackson has scored five goals in just eight games since his arrival at Villa Park, his link-up play has been immense, and he has already formed an excellent on-pitch relationship with fellow summer signing Johan Manzambi.

The Senegal forward is the perfect player to lead the line in an Emery system and he is only just getting started.

Meanwhile, the move has also worked out perfectly for Jackson. He has reunited with Emery following their fruitful spell together at Villarreal, he is playing regularly and he is performing at the highest level in the Champions League.

For all three parties, it’s been the perfect transfer.
