Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Arsenal are eager to strengthen their squad with additional new signings following the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.
The Gunners have spent €167.5 million on four signings so far this summer - Guimaraes, Piero Hincapie, Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier - and they are expected to dip back into the market before the window ends on 1 September.

FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is in contact with the representatives of Cristian Romero and Ezri Konsa, amid the Gunners’ pursuit of a new defender, while the reigning Premier League champions have also been tipped to bolster their forward ranks after failing to sign Vinicius Junior.
The Brazil superstar was earmarked as a possible blockbuster signing and we were informed that Arsenal were willing to do whatever it took to finalise a deal to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
However, following lengthy contract extension talks, Vini Jr has opted to sign a new deal at Real Madrid to end speculation of a sensational move to north London.
Paris Saint-Germain attacker Bradley Barcola has since been linked as a possible signing, although Liverpool are currently the frontrunners to acquire his signature and the Frenchman has already given Andoni Iraola’s side the green light to pursue a deal.
When asked if Arsenal fans can expect any additional signings before Transfer Deadline Day, Arteta admitted: “Well that's what we're trying to do. If we have the right player in the market to make us much better, we are very much looking forward to that.”

The signing of the aforementioned Guimaraes is regarded as a significant coup and Arteta expressed his delight at the transfer following Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
“We see very clearly, especially the energy that he brought immediately to the training ground, the hunger, the desire to come here and create a big history at the club,” he said.
“That's the ambition that we need. We want to go to the next level and I'm very, very much convinced that we're going to need players with such a personality, desire and character to push everybody inside the organisation to go even higher.
“The versatility to play in two different positions in relation to what we want or the opponent does. A player who obviously has tremendous timing and intuition to win the ball back and progress play very, very fast.
“He's a player that is very comfortable putting people through, moving between the lines, moving in behind. And then he's a goal threat. He's got a smell and a really good timing to get in the box. And he has the capacity to finish the actions.”
