Elliot Anderson's expected big-money move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City could have major ramifications for Liverpool.

The 23-year-old is the subject of strong interest from the Cityzens, who attempted to get a deal done before Anderson had the chance to further enhance his reputation and boost his value at the World Cup.

However, they evidently failed in this endeavour - unless they make a fresh offer before Wednesday - because they did not match Forest's hefty valuation of the player. Two bids, the second clocking in at a whopping €139 million, were knocked back by Evangelos Marinakis.

Despite this, the two clubs are not believed to be too far apart on the final fee, and it is expected that Man City will achieve a breakthrough in the coming weeks. Forest are demanding a Premier League record fee of over €145m.

The direction of travel is that Anderson will become a Man City player this summer. He has already greenlit the move, and there is confidence at the Etihad that a deal will be done.

Anderson fallout will be massive

The effects of Anderson's move, if it will indeed be a record transfer, will be massive. Reports have suggested that it will result in the values of other England stars, like Morgan Rogers, exploding.

It will, naturally, also influence the summer window of other clubs, as Forest will need to sign a replacement. Celtic midfielder Arne Engels is one option they are still considering after having several bids rejected in January.

Another name is Davide Frattesi, who is also a long-standing Forest target. The Italy international has reportedly grown frustrated with his playing time at Inter and, despite ideally wanting to stay in Milan, is said to have now approved a move to Nottingham.

Reports coming out of Italy claim that Forest's opening offer for Frattesi will clock in at around €25m, while Inter value him at over €30m. This gap, however, is expected to be bridged eventually.

This move would, in turn, have a major influence on Liverpool's transfer window because Inter are still trying to sign Curtis Jones. He would be the obvious replacement for Frattesi.

Transfer talks are at a similar stage. Inter are offering around €20m, but Liverpool want at least €30m, according to the latest from Gazzetta dello Sport. However, Jones is clearly keen on the move, as evidenced by his asking Federico Chiesa about life in Italy.

Jones married his wife in Como last year. Milan is just a few kilometres down the road, and it could soon be his new home.
