Chelsea Transfer News Today: Alonso reunion lined up as Fernandez replacement eyed
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Enzo Fernandez, Exequiel Palacios and Andrea Cambiaso.
Fernandez agrees Real Madrid terms
Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid, as per MARCA.
The Argentina international is said to be "one step away" from joining the Spanish giants, having now reached an agreement on the conditions of a long-term contract. However, Los Blancos still need to get the green light from Chelsea.
Indeed, reaching a club-to-club agreement is likely to prove difficult. Florentino Perez is confident of signing Fernandez, but a lot will ultimately depend on whether or not Chelsea insist on their hefty €138 million asking price.
Alonso reunion with Palacios?
Xabi Alonso could look to reunite with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios at Chelsea, journalist Fernando Czyz claims.
The two enjoyed a strong relationship during Alonso's time at the helm of Leverkusen, and the Argentine could now become an option for Chelsea in their search for a replacement for compatriot Fernandez.
The 27-year-old hasn't been the same player since Alonso departed, so he could be interested in a reunion. The incoming Chelsea manager, for his part, appears to be keen to work with Palacios again. He also briefly considered him as a signing for Real Madrid in his previous job.
Cambiaso eyed
Chelsea are interested in Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso as they look for a replacement for Marc Cucurella, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Spain international is believed to be keen to leave the club this summer due to Chelsea's failure to qualify for Europe. Atletico Madrid have already held talks with Cucurella over a potential transfer.
As a result, Chelsea are exploring the market for potential replacements. Cambiaso, who was previously a target for Man City, is one of the names under consideration. He could cost in the region of €50m.
Atubolu hoping for Chelsea bid
SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu is "hoping" for a bid from Chelsea, BILD writes.
The 24-year-old is looking to take the next step in his career and has rejected several contract offers from his boyhood club. Because of his expected departure, Freiburg have already signed a replacement in Werder Bremen's Mio Backhaus.
However, suitors are not queuing up for Atubolu, which has now left him in an awkward position. Freiburg have already told him that he won't play for the club again should he fail to secure a transfer. He is hopeful that one of Aston Villa, Chelsea or Liverpool makes a move for him.
