Anthony Gordon receives 'concrete' offer to leave Newcastle
Bayern Munich have reportedly presented Anthony Gordon with a “concrete” offer as they intensify their pursuit of the Newcastle United attacker ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window.
Gordon, 25, has emerged as a key target for Vincent Kompany’s side in recent weeks, despite the form of fellow left winger Luis Diaz, and they are ready to battle Arsenal for his signature this summer.
The England international still has four years remaining on his current contract at Newcastle, but he is one of several stars who could depart St James’ Park during the upcoming window following a hugely disappointing 2025-26 campaign.
Arsenal have earmarked the 25-year-old as one of their top targets for the left winger position this summer and, as exclusively reported by FootballTransfers, they are ready to lodge a formal bid for his signature when the window opens next month.
However, Bayern are currently the frontrunners to sign him and they have now stepped up their pursuit by submitting a contract proposal to Gordon’s representatives.
That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who posted on X: “Despite interest from other top clubs, FC Bayern have now presented Anthony Gordon and his camp with concrete figures. Gordon could sign a five-year contract at Bayern.
“The main issue remains an agreement with Newcastle - not with the player. Bayern have clear limits. [Max] Eberl and [Christoph] Freund are therefore in talks with several candidates.”
Arsenal remain in the mix for Gordon’s signature too, while fellow Premier League giants Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are also keeping close tabs on his situation at Newcastle as they look to bolster their forward options ahead of next season.
In addition, Spanish publication Sport have claimed that Gordon’s representatives have held talks with Barcelona sporting director Deco, with the Blaugrana having identified him as a possible summer signing amid the likelihood that Marcus Rashford will be sent back to Manchester United after his loan spell.
Analysis: Should Anthony Gordon join Bayern Munich?
Although Gordon is open to joining Bayern this summer, data analytics experts SciSports believe that a move to the Bundesliga giants wouldn’t be an ideal choice for the Newcastle forward.
The Bavarians are regarded as Gordon’s 16th best destination as per SciSports’ Career Advice tool, with his potential game time viewed as a major issue.
The aforementioned Diaz has enjoyed a superb debut campaign at the Allianz Arena and Gordon would therefore likely play a back-up role to the Colombian if he were to join Bayern this summer.
As a result, Gordon will need to seriously think about whether he is willing to sacrifice consistent game time this summer.
