Arne Slot is ready to take significant action in the transfer market this summer by conducting an overhaul of his Liverpool squad.
Following a record spend in 2025, the Reds were expected to be well placed to mount a strong defence of their Premier League title, yet the Anfield club face a battle to even qualify for the Champions League again next season.
Alexander Isak’s return from a long-standing injury problem will help Slot’s cause ahead of the closing weeks of the campaign, but the Dutchman already understands there is a need for dramatic changes around Anfield so the club can regain its former status.
Slot’s chop list: The four players earmarked for sale
Mohamed Salah has already announced that he will be leaving Liverpool, but on top of this Slot is planning to offload four high-profile players in the summer to make room for new signings, according to Fichajes.
While the manager does not seem to have settled on the identity of the players who will go, the Spanish source claims that Cody Gakpo, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister and Federico Chiesa are among those who could be sold.
On top of this, there are major doubts over Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate, both of whom are expected to become free agents at the end of June.
Slot targeting big signings
Slot’s reasoning is not solely about refreshing the squad, it’s also about raising the funds to sign the type of world-class players the Reds believe they need to challenge the likes of Arsenal and Man City at the top of the standings.
Those players up for sale have a combined Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of more than €225 million, which would naturally go a long way to adding fresh talent to Liverpool’s ranks.
Analysis: Why Liverpool will struggle to raise that money
Chiesa’s exit looks the easiest for Liverpool to conduct. The Italy international wants to return to his homeland, where there is significant interest from the likes of Juventus and Inter. He has struggled for regular game time under Slot, and with an ETV of €20m, a deal here looks probable.
Elsewhere in the attack, Liverpool will be harder pushed to find a buyer for Gakpo at his €74m valuation. The Dutchman has blown hot and cold over his time at Anfield. If a deal is done, it is likely to be to the Bundesliga, yet there are few clubs who are willing able to match the ETV of the 26-year-old in Germany’s top flight. He has, after all, only scored eight times in 42 matches in all competitions this term.

Mac Allister, meanwhile, is the most surprising name on this list given his integral nature to the Liverpool midfield. He has an ETV of €116m, and while there is interest from Real Madrid and PSG, both of these teams seem to prefer other alternatives.
Finally, Joe Gomez stands a strong chance of moving on after a spell at Liverpool during which he has been ravaged by injury issues. He also only has a contract until 2027, meaning this could be the Reds last chance to recoup a fee for the former Charlton youngster.
