Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior has told the club to go out and sign Dominik Szoboszlai from Liverpool in what he believes would be an ideal addition to the squad.

Los Blancos previously raided the Anfield club for Trent Alexander-Arnold last summer, but while the right-back has received criticism for his performances at the Bernabeu, that has not put off Vini from requesting a new arrival from Arne Slot’s side.

Szoboszlai has filled in for Trent on the right of Liverpool’s defence at times this season, but the Brazilian sees him as perfect for Madrid’s midfield.

Vinicius Junior wants Szoboszlai at Real Madrid

“Vinicius insists that Szoboszlai is the ideal signing for Real Madrid's midfield next season,” Defensa Central claims.

“The Hungarian, who plays for Liverpool, is one of the Premier League's biggest sensations and seems to have a very close relationship with Vinicius Junior.

“Within Real Madrid, there's a lot of talk about what the Hungarian can bring to the team's system. It wouldn't be surprising if he's doing his part to encourage Szobozslai to join Real Madrid.”

Liverpool star drop transfer hints

There is indeed friendship between Szoboszlai and Vini Jr. The Hungary international recently posted on his social channels an image of custom boots sent to him by the Real Madrid attacker.

Further fuelling suggestions that the 25-year-old, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €78.7m, could be interested in trading Merseyside for Madrid, the midfielder liked an image on Instagram that stated it is his dream to play for the Bernabeu outfit.

Liverpool’s massive contract offer

Szoboszlai, meanwhile, is in a key moment of his career. Although he is under contract until 2028, the Reds are ready to open talks over a new deal amidst his excellent form.

Liverpool are ready to offer him a new five-year deal, which would see his pay rise from €140,000 per week to around €175,000 per week. In total, this contract would be worth around €45 million. Szoboszlai reportedly wants considerably more - around €290,000 a week.

This flirting with Real Madrid is, therefore, seen as a sign that he wants the Spanish club to make a move or at least for Liverpool to increase their offer.

Real Madrid is not the right fit

Vinicius Junior may see Szoboszlai as perfect for Real Madrid, but data analytics firm SciSports has cast more doubts on the suitability of the former RB Leipzig star to perform in Spain’s capital.

Its Career Advice tool gives Los Blancos a Club Fit score of 65 based on a variety of factors, including potential development, game time, playing style and formation.

In particular, there are fears that he could simply disappear at the Bernabeu, with just one star given to his pitch game in fierce competition with the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham and Fede Valverde.

There is a caveat to this, however. This figure is based on Alvaro Arbeloa still being in charge of the first team next season – unlikely – and all these players being retained if he were to sign – also unlikely.

Szoboszlai’s next steps

By contrast, Premier League rivals Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are all excellent destinations for Szoboszlai if he wants to get the most out of his game.

City, in particular, fare brilliantly. They score 90 in terms of Club Fit, with Arsenal earning an 81 rating. Of course, a sale to any of these clubs would surely never be sanctioned by Liverpool.

The Reds, meanwhile, sit on 78. This is still an excellent score and suggests Anfield remains a strong venue for Szoboszlai to get the most out of his football – and certainly a better option than the risky but glitzy move to Real Madrid.
