Anderson frontrunners revealed

Man Utd and Man City are both interested in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, according to the BBC.

Article continues under the video

At Man Utd, Anderson is internally viewed as the midfielder whose signing should be prioritised over other targets, but it is Man City who are the "clear" favourites to secure his signature.

Despite this, Man Utd will not give up hope of signing the England international. They hope that Champions League qualification and the potential appointment of an elite coach can tip the scales in their favour.

Guimaraes' exit pact

Newcastle have a "gentleman's agreement" with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes that allows him to explore his options if they do not qualify for the Champions League, according to Ben Jacobs.

Man Utd have been heavily linked with the 28-year-old in recent days, and some reports have gone so far as to suggest that the Brazilian is already in "advanced talks" with the Old Trafford club.

The agreement with Newcastle could facilitate a summer move, but there is an acceptance that it is not legally enforceable, and the Magpies do not want to lose their star midfielder.

Romano on Guimaraes

Fabrizio Romano reports that Man Utd hold a genuine interest in Guimaraes, but he has cautioned against believing claims that this potential deal is in any way advanced at this stage.

The Brazilian is merely one of many midfielders appreciated by the Red Devils. Romano adds that his €100+ million release clause from 2024 is no longer valid, meaning that Newcastle will be able to freely negotiate a fee.

"Guimaraes is appreciated by Man Utd, as are players like Sandro Tonali," Romano said. "However, it is important to remember how complicated it is to sign players from Newcastle. The club does not want to lose all their best players in the same summer, so these deals are not easy.

"The £100m release clause for Guimaraes was only valid in summer 2024, and according to my information, it is no longer active. Any deal would now require full negotiations, with Newcastle having their own valuation and other clubs having their own perspectives.

"Man Utd are interested in several midfielders but have not yet decided which profile they want to prioritise."

Collins on Man Utd's radar

Man Utd have taken a surprising interest in Brenford centre-back Nathan Collins, according to TEAMtalk.

The Red Devils are one of numerous big-hitters interested in the Republic of Ireland international, but Brentford will not make life easy for his suitors, having slapped a whopping €65m price tag on his head.

Data from analytics firm SciSports suggests that Collins would be an excellent signing for the Old Trafford club, and perhaps even an upgrade on their options both in terms of current ability and potential.

Man Utd make Rashford decision

Man Utd have made it clear to Barcelona that they will not accept another loan for Marcus Rashford, as per The Mirror.

The Catalans want to keep the England international, but they are reluctant to exercise their €30m purchase option due to their ongoing financial problems. Man Utd, though, want to sell Rashford this summer and believe that this fee is great value for money.

Should Barcelona decide to walk away from the deal - despite the club and the player being aligned on continuing together beyond this season - Man Utd would look to sell Rashford to the highest bidder.
