Liverpool Transfer News Today: Slot meeting confirmed as target PSG-slayer Akliouche
All the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip from Anfield as Liverpool prepare for what promises to be another busy summer in the market.
Liverpool battle Man Utd for Kalulu
Liverpool are preparing to step up their interest in Juventus centre-back Pierre Kalulu, according to CaughtOffside.
The Reds are heavily invested in the market for a new central defender ahead of the summer, having seen Giovanni Leoni struck down with a serious injury early this season. Arne Slot’s side have looked threadbare at times at the back and with Ibrahima Konate potentially leaving as a free agent need more numbers.
Kalulu has been earmarked for a summer move but Juventus are desperate to retain the Frenchman while competition will come from Manchester United.
Liverpool’s interest is expected to remain even if Konate performs a U-turn and signs a new deal with the club.
Schlotterbeck transfer meeting confirmed
Slot has already met with the agent of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck in order to discuss a potential summer deal.
The Germany international’s contract is up in 2027 and appears destined for a summer a move.
“Borussia Dortmund has presented him [Schlotterbeck] with a very good offer to renew his contract (which ends in 2027) and they're regaining hope that he'll stay with the club," Spanish journalist Jorge C Picon wrote via his personal X account.
“Real Madrid is following the German's trail, who they like a lot. He's among the options to bolster the centre of the defence depending on the departures this summer.
“The other club that wants him is Liverpool. Arne Slot even met with him to tell him about the project and try to convince him.”
Reds watch Akliouche dismantle PSG
Monaco playmaker Maghnes Akliouche is being closely monitored by Liverpool ahead of the transfer window.
Scouts from Anfield were present as the 22-year-old led his side to a shock victory over PSG in Ligue 1 last weekend, TeamTalk reports.
Akliouche has been subject to interest from numerous major clubs in recent months, with Man Utd also among his admirers.
Monaco are likely to sell the academy product in the summer, giving Liverpool the green light to conduct a move with their three preferred options – Michael Olise, Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue – all not for sale.
Spurs still want Robertson
Andy Robertson is set to have a Premier League option if he leaves Liverpool – assuming Tottenham win their battle against relegation.
Spurs are still keen on signing the Scotland international left-back, who will be available in the summer as a free agent if he does not agree a new contract with the Reds.
The Londoners were eager to snap up the veteran in January but were unable to complete a deal.
Robertson also has interest from Wrexham, who could make an ambitious move if they win promotion to the Premier League, and his boyhood club Celtic.
