Chelsea were long considered hot favourites to land the 20-year-old centre-back but were ultimately unable to agree a transfer with the French club, despite getting the green light from Jacquet over personal terms.

Jacquet is set to join Liverpool in the summer.

Raging Ronaldo refuses to play for Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Al-Nassr is under question, with reports indicating that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is ready to go on strike from his Saudi Pro League club.

Ronaldo is said to be furious that other teams in the league have been given greater backing in the transfer market than his side.

His stance comes after a dramatic outburst from head coach Jorge Jesus, who claimed other teams owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) got greater backing.
